Nepean is a region within Ottawa West, located just 15 minutes outside of downtown and comprising several unique suburbs, many different types of homes, people, and businesses. With easy access to both HWY 416 and HWY 417, easy access to transit, future LRT, and bike paths, Nepean is incredibly convenient and perfect for commuters.
Because Nepean is home to Algonquin college and close to Carleton University, there’s a mix of community residents from students to families which contributes to Nepean’s dynamic atmosphere. There are many schools, day care centres, parks, and recreational facilities throughout Nepean, while the regions’ abundant greenery and serene enclaves also attract retired residents.
There are several different neighbourhoods within Nepean featuring varying home types. Single family homes make up the bulk of homes in the area, but townhomes, apartment condos, and semi-detached homes also dot the region. There are plenty of single family mid-century bungalows and some two-storey homes on good sized lots. You’ll find the area’s newest homes in the Centrepointe neighbourhood.
Merivale Road is the Nepean’s main shopping district home to several big-box stores, plaza malls, restaurants, fitness clubs, and much more. Local amenities include Pinecrest Recreation Complex with its five lane pool and sauna, the Barbara Anne Scott Arena, Nepean Sportsplex featuring Olympic sized pool, skating rinks, squash courts, and event spaces, and Wesley Clover Parks which gives residents access to horseback riding, camping, and winter activities.
Why we love Nepean
Nepean still carries the strong, individual identity it had when it was an independent city. This neighbourhood satisfies almost every preference for homes and lifestyle. Whether you’re looking for a large home for a growing family, or you want to downsize into a bungalow or condo, you’ll find it here.
There are parks just about everywhere and most streets have gorgeous, mature trees that you just can’t get in a new construction neighbourhood. This is an Ottawa suburb with plenty of room to grow for generations, and it’s proximity to downtown, amenities, and transit ensure that this region will stay at the forefront of desirable neighbourhoods in Ottawa for decades.
